À l'ombre des jeunes filles en fleurs

There is a beautiful cherry tree on our street, we've been watching it turning pink for a few weeks now. The other day while taking photos we met the lady who owns this pretty tree. It might be strange, but I was very glad to know that this perfect cherry belongs to such a nice old lady... They even look alike.

She told us to come again when the tree would be in full bloom, and it's very important not to be late: every year it blooms so nicely, but then one night a very strong wind blows and the next day all of the petals are on the ground, turning it pink.

We came again today and took these photos, and right now, while I'm typing, I can hear the wind banging on the roofs and shaking the trees outside. Tomorrow there will be a petal carpet in front of the old lady's house.

It was a gorgeous Sunday: snowy and sunny. We went downtown, grabbed holiday drinks at Starbucks and walked to the pier. It's my favorite part of town: the lake and the mountains views, cute houses, beautifully shaped trees... I wish we lived there! We spent a few minutes on a bench watching the birds on the lake and sipping our coffee and then we took off to have a family movie night! We went to see The Hobbit and it was fun, we haven't been to the movies since we moved here. The movie was good but we all felt like there were just too many fight scenes and action in general.  I can't believe there're going to be three parts! Such a long time to wait till the next one...

From Far Away Sunday: Mail

I love getting surprises From Far Away! And this Sunday while B is in NYC stick there with a storm i want to share some with you. Last week i got a Happy Birthday card from one of my friends in NYC.. yeah, it has just arrived! Late but still lovely! It's never late to make someone happy, right? :-) So here it is:

Don't you think packages always feel like Christmas? When i get something from Ben's parents it definitely feels like it! Just look at this:

And i got two packages from B with different American sweets and my favourite ones - Reese's cups!!!
Oh, bun, you are wonderful!!

Also, thank you for all the flowers you sent me, dear! The phone calls from a flower guy do make me really excited but i would be the happiest to just finally get you here and hug you and hold your hand. Here is the last one surprise from far away i got and i hope the next one will be you in person! Sorry the pic is all blurry - we were too excited when we were taking it :-) Here are the flowers in a vase and chocolates :-*

3 more days!!! I hope the hurricane goes away from NYC and lets my B get to me safely!

Hi, this is Benjamin, I miss you so much dear Katyusha love. I wanted to share some surprises that are coming with me back to you.  First off, I am bringing this book, which I think you'll really like, it's about marketing with social media :-)

Next, I have a jar of something that will let us make all kinds of cool things.

And finally, I have a surprise bag from Starbucks.  I also have lots more stuff of course :-))) but some of it will really be a surprise when I get there.  I love you very, very much Katyusha.

And I got a photo from up near a bridge of the New York skyline as Irene was going away.  It was a little bit windy and still raining a little, but there never was a scary part of the hurricane here in New York.  I really hope that it doesn't affect my flight on Wednesday, but I don't think it will.  I can't wait to get back to K and hold her tight for a long time.

From Far Away Sunday - My meal

We love food. Ben eats faster than Katie. Katie usually shares with Ben.
When we are apart we can't enjoy our meals together, so we decided to cook and then share our meals online with each other this Sunday. And this is what we ate:

Ben had nachos in the States
Katie had a peach pie in Russia

hold me tight

Hello friends! It's Sunday again and it's time for our Photo Project - From Far Away Sunday Round 2! There are 38 days between us left and oh it is hard..! To make this waiting easier we chat on skype every day and dream of the things we want to do when we are together again. One of those is watching a sunset together covered in warm blankets with hot cocoa in our cups ( B is back in fall so i guess it will be pretty chilly in the evenings, and hot cocoa will be great again!)! As you already guessed this week's topic is a Sunset and here is what we share from across the ocean with each other and all of you:

a lake sunset in Idaho
a city sunset in Moscow

From Far Away Sunday

Hello everyone! This is our new Photo Project! First the reason: Benjamin went home for a month and a half to make his new visa and to be able to spend the next year here with me again. That mean there are 4843 miles or 7796 km between us! Also the whole Europe, Atlantic ocean, many cities, towns, rivers and mountains... I miss him tons! and can't wait for him to be back.. So meanwhile we decided it would be fun to make a photo project where we pick a topic and shoot a picture of it and then put them together. This way we can see the things from far away through each other's eyes and also have a feeling that the dear one is closer, or even right here, looking at the same thing i do... So we took our cameras and shot the first pair of pics! And here's our first Sunday theme - A Road:

a road in Sandpoint, ID, USA
a road in Moscow region, Russia
